Apple Crisp

Fall is upon on and my father's apple trees are dropping apples left and right. My weekend has been one filled with picking apples, falling out of apple trees, and multiple apple desserts. Somehow this "dessert" became our breakfast and oh what a yummy breakfast it was!

Apple Crisp

Filling:
5 cups apple slices
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Topping:
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup old fashioned or quick cooking oats
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg

Preheat oven to 375. Grease the bottom of an 8x8 baking dish.

Combine filling ingredients in a large bowl, tossing gently to coat apples evenly. Pour into prepared pan.

In a large bowl, combine topping ingredients, mixing well until small lumps form. Sprinkle topping over the apples.

Bake at 375 for 30-45 minutes, until apple slices are tender. Cooking times will vary based on the type of apples used.
